DOT compliance
+What records does FMCSA require for each driver?
Every CDL driver needs a driver qualification (DQ) file: employment application, motor vehicle records (MVRs), previous-employer safety history, road test or equivalent, medical examiner's certificate, and an annual review. See our full DOT compliance checklist for the complete list. FleetCare tracks each item as a new-hire or annual requirement.
+What about drug and alcohol testing?
Under Part 382 you must run pre-employment tests, random testing at the FMCSA rate, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty and follow-up tests, plus Clearinghouse queries. FleetCare logs each test and query and shows your random-rate progress.
+What maintenance records must I keep for trucks and trailers?
Part 396 requires inspection, repair and maintenance records for each unit, including annual inspections. FleetCare keeps a per-unit history with next-due dates.
+Will FleetCare help me pass a DOT audit?
FleetCare organizes your records, flags what's missing or expiring, and exports an organized audit file in one click. It does not replace legal advice or your own review of current rules.
+How does the previous-employer safety history work?
Enter the old employer's contact info and FleetCare emails them a secure request link. Their answers are filed straight into the driver's DQ file.
